William R Groves Funeral Director has been part of the Picton, Camden and district community for more than 30 years.

The company is owned by the Brindley family.  This family has been working in the funeral industry more than 35 years. They have gathered around them a team of funeral service professionals unparalleled in the region. All share the dedication of the family's personal commitment – together with Ross at the helm, they care about the work they do.

After 60 years in the funeral industry, Bill and Mary Groves retired in 2009. During the transition, they acted in a consultative role. Mary continues to enjoy an association with the business she started with Bill those many years ago.

Our Staff:

Dawn Thomson is the ‘engine room’ of the entire William R Groves operation, and her ties to the region (and work ethic) epitomizes the local, family-focused nature of the business as a whole. Dawn’s official role is that of manager for both William R Groves sites, and her many duties in this position include the arranging and conducting of funerals; the organization of staff duties and schedules; and oversight with regards to medical/doctor reports and other legal paperwork. A local of the Camden and Narellan region for over 30 years, Dawn’s roots in the area have been deepened by her experiences as a local businesswoman. She began her employment life by training to become a nurse, with most of her time in this career spent in the Aged and Disability Care sector.

Linda Eagles is a relative newcomer to the funeral industry who can usually be found working out of the Camden office in her role as a Funeral Director, arranging and conducting services with compassion and great care. Linda is a well-known and respected identity in the area, with a sense of community and social duty which makes her a very suitable match with the company vision and business integrity of the William R Groves ‘family’. She is highly-regarded for her volunteer work, and is admired for her energetic and tireless commitment to her career. Linda has a kind and caring nature, which has held her in high standing with both colleagues and customers throughout her working life.

Mark Russell has been a dedicated (and humble) achiever as a member of the William R Groves team for the past six years. Mark brings a variety of skill sets to his work with the Groves network, including: hearse driver; managing “back of house” activities (such as product orders and coffin preparation); and chauffeuring the transfer vehicle which brings people into our care. His dedication to his roles has recently been recognized by local leaders with a Rotary Pride of Workmanship award, which can be credited to both his ‘can do’, common-sense general attitude, and to his calm approach towards all manner of challenges.

Mark is married with two High school-aged children, and he also works as a station Officer in the Fire Brigade. His colleagues - and our clients - all readily acknowledge that he puts in an amazing effort every day, and nothing is ever too much trouble for him to handle.

John Clark is a Funeral assistant with the William R Groves team, providing additional support and guidance with regards to funeral services; he also works in the mortuary, readying coffins, and does general back-of-house duties. Like most of our staff, John has been a member of the Camden Community for many years, and he is admired for his positive attitude and helpful spirit. John has a sense of pride about his role, especially when - as part of the team - he can assist families when they are in the midst of the grieving process. Throughout his employment career, John has always worked in Customer-focused positions, and no task or request is ever beyond his ability to see through to completion.

Samantha Murray has been employed in the Funeral Industry for five years now, and currently works at both sites as a Funeral director, arranging and conducting funerals, while also working in the mortuary. She is a loving mother of two (high achieving) sports girls, and is very family-orientated in all her social activities. Being a devoted mother - and a kind and caring person - Sam relishes her role as someone who is able (and willing) to help people at their most vulnerable moments, and has an empathetic nature which has placed her in high esteem with both her colleagues and those whom she has assisted in her work. William R Groves are proud to have Samantha as part of the Groves team.

Our funeral directors and their support staff are knowledgeable, experienced and respectful. Their compassion, sensitivity and attention to detail are the key to providing a service that will exceed your expectations.
